My Apartment Represents A Refuge, An Accomplishment (Because It Turned Out Wonderfully), And A Thing Of Beauty. ItRepresents Me, It's Who I Am.
Many city dwellers dream of getting away to the country on the weekend to relax and recharge. This client was the reverse: with a primary residence in Silicon Valley, he wanted a base for urban experiences on the weekend, a place to unwind and entertain friends. The dramatic views from this apartment sold him in a heartbeat: the towers and buttresses of Grace Cathedral on one side and San Francisco Bay (including Coit Tower) on another.
The client loves the look and feel of mid-century. We sourced vintage pieces whose silhouettes evoke the mood of the Gothic cathedral in a modern way. The deeper, richer tones are balanced by the extraordinary natural light and the cityscape at night. New pieces from Stone Interiors include the dining table, designed to be reflective during the day as well as at night, so it seems to float in the space. In contrast, the coffee table in the living room is a sculptural solid—in bold counterpoint to the laciness of the cathedral’s buttresses.
